Jump!
Phillip Halsman was a Latvian photographer well-known for his portraits of famous people.  Halsman commented, “When you ask a person to jump, his attention is mostly directed toward the act of jumping and the mask falls so that the real person appears.” The photographer developed a philosophy of jump photography, which he called jumpology. He published Philippe Halsman’s Jump...

Rainbowland
The Rainbow Family is a non-hierarchical group that holds free gatherings around the world. They practice ideals of peace, love, harmony, freedom and community as an alternative to popular culture, consumerism, capitalism and mass media. In July 2009 they brought 25,000 people together for a week in the wilderness in New Mexico, U.S. Photographer Kitra Cahana was there to inmortalize that event. ...

Mother's Day
Since my mum is away on a trip, I celebrated this day with my mother in law. She cooks like a champ and everytime I go to eat at her house, I end up lying in bed with my belly up :) On this special occasion she cooked some flan for dessert. It was so so delicious! Flan with Dulce de Leche (a classic) Pastelitosssss… Happy Mother’s Day! :)

Fresco
Hey there! This Friday has turned a bit gloomy for some of my friends so I’m going to post something fresh, something that makes them think: Gosh, I want to take a bike and ride along an imaginary beach while listening to Belle and Sebastian.  GUARANTEED! Press play. Ready? GO! Imagine you arrive to this small village in front of the sea  Do you smell that? That’s the...

Untouched for 70 years
For 70 years the Parisian apartment had been left uninhabited, under lock and key, the rent faithfully paid but no hint of what was inside. Behind the door, under a thick layer of dusk lay a treasure trove of turn-of-the-century objects including a painting by the 19th century Italian artist Giovanni Boldini.  The woman who owned the flat had left for the south of France before the Second...

A bit of Argentina. Part 2.
These were taken on a Sunday afternoon in Rosario, my hometown. I had just bought a new camera so my boyfriend suggested we go outside and do some tests. Rosario is such an interesting city. It’s a very important one but it doesn’t have that crazyness all the big cities have. People are very kind (in their own way) and polite. A lot of Argentina’s great personalities were born...

Festival Express
Last night I cought a bit of a documentary called “Festival Express” in I-SAT about a train tour across Canada with some of the world’s most famous passengers in the history of rock: The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, The Band, among others. The film combines live footage shot during the 1970 concerts, as well as footage aboard the train itself.  Look at this: UNBELIEVABLE. ...

The One Who Got Away*
One of my favourite things about being an internet drifter is finding treasures, unexpected sites that I had no idea they existed, very special places. I have just found Pictory. The founder is a woman called Laura Brunow Miner and she describes her work like this:  Pictory is a showcase for people around the world to document their lives and cultures. Anyone can submit one large, captioned...

A bit of Argentina. Part 1.
For those of you who have never traveled to Argentina, here’s a sneak peak of the North. The sights and people here still mantain the roots of the country’s pre-Columbian culture and contrast sharply with the European image of Buenos Aires. If you want to learn more, click here. City of Salta. View from Cerro San Bernardo. Arriving to Cuesta del Obispo Cuesta del Obispo ...
